An Errant Hiatus

an-errant-hiatus

As of Monday, February 11, 2008 I am taking a break from The Errant Apprentice. For the last few weeks I’ve been feeling more and more stressed due to work and my personal life and I feel that EA is suffering. The readers can’t see it, but I can.
This hiatus will last until sometime in March so I can get Megacon out of the way and do some drawing for fun and experimentation. (Speaking of, if anyone will be at Megacon in Orlando March 7th - 9th, please stop by and visit me and the other Nightgigers in Artist’s Alley!)
This does not mean I’ll be resting on my laurels though! Oh no! I’ll be working to get the EA Fan Club up and running and hopefully finish the first book. I’ll also be taking requests for crazy crap to draw at some future point but more on that when it happens. Until then I’ll do the occasional Scienteer’s update. More news to follow. . .

lancaster-hits-700

Hey guys, I just wanted to drop you a note that Lancaster the Ghost Detective is going to be hitting 700 pages next week! Wowsers, I really need to find something else to occupy my time…

And speaking of which, the Northcod Residential contest will be running through the finale of Episode 9, so make sure you get your magnifying glasses out and track down every last entry for your shot at big, big prizes!

Taking sketch-requests

taking-sketch-requests

I want to get in a lot more sketching practice. So please suggest something for me to draw and post here. There are only ten slots open right now. Just about anything goes (within reason). So comment on this post, one request per comment, one request per person. I will be able to view IPs, so no cheating, neh?

There are ten additional slots at my DeviantART page. This will give me a grand-total of twenty sketches.

That was a couple of days ago, meaning there is one slot left on my site if someone wishes to take it. I’ll be posting the sketches on my site and on my dA, so keep an eye out!

Yes, that was quite a shameless plug on my part, but I think that’s perfectly fair. ;)

kc-at-megacon-and-the-minis-we-make

HALLO, fellow scienteers and non-scienteers alike! A lot of stuff is happening around my head, but the biggest one right now is MEGACON in Orlando, FL! I’m leaving for Orlando today and will be there all weekend at Artist’s Alley, table Brown 12B!! That’s way back there, but it will be a freakin party you know!!!!! Also with me I will have like 1,000 mini comics for sale! I got one called “PROBLEMS WITH MY BODY” which is a mini containing sketches and lil comics from my sketchbook. I’ve seen others do this before and thought it was really neat, I hope others think the same way!!!  Next, I got a mini version of my 24 hour comic, THE FARM HOUSE) available, then a very special one: GUN SHOW THREE AND A HALF!! A little taste of what the new gun show will bring to everyone, and I think no one will be disappointed.  I’ll also have old issues of Gun Show one and two, and will be sketching in everything I can, for free!! So, if you live in Florida, you have no reason NOT to come down to Megacon and shake my hand!See you there.

The Dumpster Fire Represents Creativity

Hey, kids! Ian Jay here. Just poppin’ my head in on the front page to announce that I have a new all-purpose webcomics site: IANJAY.net!

On IANJAY.net will be posted the rest of Try Everything Once, as well as my other upcoming webcomics projects (Near High Noon, Epiphany, and whatever else I happen to think of) and maybe some art and writing and videos and music and whatnot, whatever I feel like sticking on there. It’s kind of a catch-all site for the plethora of projects I have running right now. If you’re already a reader, BOOKMARK THAT LINK. If not, mosey on over there and get acquainted with my work, AND THEN BOOKMARK IT ANYWAYS. (Even if you don’t like it. By hook or by crook, I am going to ram my imagination down your esophagus even if it kills us.)

ALSO, COMING SOON TO THE SCIENTEERS FRONT PAGE, a series of informative videos on the topic of webcomics, filmed by me and starring a friend and webcomics enthusiast who just moved into downtown Savannah. Stay tuned, folks…

Cosmic Dash returning soon.

cosmic-dash-returning-soon

Just wanted to direct readers to an update over at my site. I have posted the first splash-page for the first Cosmic Dash book.

The title of the collection is “Wanted” and sets the tone for the majority of the first book. The first book concerns the establishing of Dash’s antagonists, many of whom can be seen in the shadows, surrounding Dash’s wanted poster. Dash isn’t wanted by the Federation mind you, just the various baddies in the universe.

So, please click the thumbnail to see the update. I’m very excited about the new stories and I have been bothering a bunch of my peers to check each draft of my scripts. :)

New Series Now Updating On IANJAY.net

new-series-now-updating-on-ianjaynet

Hey, kids! Ian Jay here again. Just wanted to mention that my new webcomic series Near High Noon is now updating three times a week on IANJAY.net from now until mid-May. It’s a gritty shoot-’em-up western that’s sure to delight any fans of gritty shoot-’em-up westerns, as well as fans of more ambient, psychological westerns, as well as fans of all westerns in general, as well as fans of any other genre of story ever invented, as well as anyone else alive and breathing on the planet Earth. (My work is known for its undeniable crossover appeal.) Why not mosey on over and take a look for yourself?

I want you to recommend webcomics.

i-want-you-to-recommend-webcomics

Recently I had some computer trouble. Resulting on me reinstalling Windows XP. I saved a lot of stuff on my second drive, so Cosmic Dash’s update schedule won’t suffer. However I did lose all my webcomic bookmarks. So, how about you guys recommend some comics for me to bookmark?

All you need to do is post the comics you think I should bookmark in this entry’s comments. Maybe I’ll find something new I’ve not seen otherwise.

As a bonus, I’ll also likely use any comics linked in these comments as future featured comments. So please, comment away.

the-con-is-on

Howdy folks! Poinko from Lancaster the Ghost Detective here! Just wanted to let you guys know that if you plan on being at either CAPE! or A-Kon this year, try to see if you can spot me! I’m not sure where I’ll be at CAPE!, but I’ll make sure the table is clearly labeled for your convenience. If you’re gonna be at A-Kon (and really, why wouldn’t you?) you can find me in the Dealer’s Room at the Happy Jackal Graphics table.

Stop by and see me, say hi, maybe even pick up a copy of my sketchbook, if I get it finished in time…

Make sure to let us know either here or in the forums. Look forward to seeing you there!
