IRC TIPS:

  1. Register your name! Type /ns register password e-mail. Replace password and e-mail with your own password and e-mail address.
  2. Once you’ve registered, identify yourself! If you don’t identify, you can’t use your name, it’s kind of like logging in. Type /ns id password. Password is, naturally, your password.
  3. If you get disconnected from the server, but you’re still online, it’s called a Ghost. How can you deal with it? Type /ns ghost username password. Username and password are your username you are trying to access and it’s password you registered with.
  4. LURK! Hang out in the room for a while, the room has it’s dry spells, but we suggest talking a bit before vanishing, somebody will likely respond.
  5. We always have the SCIENCETRON9000 running as well as another OP on duty most of the time.

  4. No colored text. Default is best. Just because you can read the text in your IRC client doesn’t mean it can be read across all clients.

  1. Looking for a specific user? Type !sn username. Username being the person you’re looking for. SCIENCEBOT9000 will let you know when they were last seen in the channel.
  2. Type !eightball and follow it up with a yes or no question to see what SCIENCETRON9000 has to say.
