DD Redesign and other news.

Drunk Duck rolled out a new layout today, and there are two major problems I have with it. One, it just doesn’t look that good and two, there are still a lot of problems with it. The header has a huge gap in it for example. That being said, the large icons are nice, and I like the collapsible sidebar. Too bad you can’t seem to make a sidebar category stay open once you decide you want to keep it open. Also, lack of site news on the main-page is a bit annoying. News can be found in the collapsible sidebar, only once again, it keeps closing between pages of the site. Overall, it feels a bit like a step in the WRONG direction. Essentially, a couple of good ideas completely overwritten by a clunky and incomplete layout, hopefully some changes will be made soon.

However, there is some other news, first of all, Scienteer Rémi Perron wants me to mention that SCUD is back. Not entirely webcomic-related from what I can tell, but it’s still a comic and we’re all about the art form around here.

Finally, we have this:

The two-pronged trident of historical buffoonery at www.ftg-comic.com known
as The Count and Geoff, would like the world to know that they have managed
to produce 100 full episodes of farcical time-travelical foppery.

As of February 7th 2008, “Frederick the Great: A Most Lamentable Comedy
Breaching Time and Space” has joined the ranks of the triple-digited.

Since Frederick updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the 100th episode will
be on the main page all weekend long.

So, as we lead into the weekend, maybe we’ll get some more happenings to report?

Cosmic Dash returning soon.

Just wanted to direct readers to an update over at my site. I have posted the first splash-page for the first Cosmic Dash book.

The title of the collection is “Wanted” and sets the tone for the majority of the first book. The first book concerns the establishing of Dash’s antagonists, many of whom can be seen in the shadows, surrounding Dash’s wanted poster. Dash isn’t wanted by the Federation mind you, just the various baddies in the universe.

So, please click the thumbnail to see the update. I’m very excited about the new stories and I have been bothering a bunch of my peers to check each draft of my scripts. :)

silvipera and floodgatemartyr have got a comic (Lil’ Hero Artists) which you can buy (at DriveThruComics) or free-download (at Wowio)! You can support their work by getting a copy (and Wowio’s free, why not?), because the more downloads they get the more likely their publisher is to release a print version!

I don’t normally announce cameos but since it’s me this time, why not! Remember a few newsposts ago I announced that Electronic Revolutions The Burnhams was reaching 100 pages? Well it’s there now, and the 100th page features loads of DD cameos… including me! I’m the monkey. :)

Rudolf’s comic Rudolf (it’s a reindeer horror comic) has reached 25 pages!

Cricket’s Creature by patrickdevine has turned 1 year old!

The Author’s The Author turns 100 The Author comics old on Friday! (The Author)

For Your Eyes Only! That’s Kohdok’s comic, and it’s turning 200 pages (and six chapters) old! (Also, its 1st birthday is the 18th!)

Dawginson tells me that Four Bats (that’s two bats, doubled) has just hit #150! And for the event, there is “some pretty swish artwork”! You don’t want to miss that, do you?

smkinoshita (a fun name to try and say) has a comic named Super Temps and is turning 200 pages this weekend!

So many high-numbered milestones, great job guys!

Creephunter by Mike Wood and Barry Linck will reach its 25th page on Tuesday! Woo!

royduncan100’s The Villain Next Door has reached 25 pages, and is also starting book #2!

Turning 100 is Temple of a Thousand Tears by trevoramueller! trevoramueller wrote:

Regular old news from DD

Today’s featured comic is Surfboards and Rayguns!
Intergalactic love and war on the beaches of Hawaii… as Wizer gives free surfing lessons to blonde bombshell Kona (who is interested in more than a ‘beach bum, to his dismay), spaceships battle in the stratosphere above them. Forgive the excitable punctuation early on, because this comic looks absolutely lovely- especially the water- and has a pretty interesting story developing.

Also I’ve received a completely valid criticism that all the featured comics in the past while have all been actiony guy type comics… so I will make an effort to find girlier stuff to feature. :)
