Introducing the SCIENTEERS.

introducing-the-scienteers

I’ve been a little busy lately folks. I’ve been working behind the scenes on something big.

Allow me to introduce it now…

So, what the hell is this? Long story short, it’s a webcomic-collective and a webcomic-news site. Similar to a cross between Lunchbox Funnies and Fleen, or Blanklabel and Comixtalk, or maybe even a Websnark and Boxcar comics-hybrid if you will…

Is this ambitious? Incredibly so. You’d have to have a lot of support and assistance to actually pull that sort of thing off right? Well, turns out there is no shortage of assistance. Let me introduce all the webcomics involved in the collective aspect of the site… the Scienteers if you will…

Cosmic Dash, Lancaster: The Ghost Detective, The Errant Apprentice, All over Migglie, Breakpoint City, Impy and Aevy, Try Everything Once and Fortissima’s Treasure Hunters.

.. and that’s not even including all of our sub-projects and other comics we may do. Although, speaking of other comics, I suppose I should mention we’ll be doing comics for the site itself, taking advantage of all of our talents. So by visiting scienteers.com you’ll not only find a hub for the latest news and information from the group, but you’ll be able to enjoy brand new collaborative comics!

So… what if you’re not quite one of the eight Scienteers? How can you benefit from the group? Simple… we’ll plug and promote anyone who asks. In addition to a fully-active news site, well be constantly scouring the Internet for comics that need a spotlight shown on them. We’ll also be running a discussion forum that allows for like-minded creators to get together and promote, discuss and advise each other on the craft. On top of this, we’ll gladly post guest articles and guest comics.

Speaking of guest comics, how sweet would a situation be where you can do a guest comic for another site that is more or less an advertisement for yourself? Send a guest comic that is entirely a sampler for your own work. Your own characters, universe and style, shown to an entirely new group of readers? We’ll be setting time aside frequently for creators to send in their own promotional stories to post! Want to advertise your newest sci-fi epic? Do a short story and send it our way, we’ll post it right at the top of the page as one of our webcomic updates! Talk about a sweet deal huh?

Unfortuantely, this won’t be launched until February first, sorry folks! Until then, you can join in the forums, talk about the site, plug your comics and ask how you can participate! We could always use writers for articles, news-scouts and people to keep the community active.

Anyway, thanks a ton for reading this guys, all of us behind this crazy new site are looking forward to launching!

See you February first!

The Scienteers: Now Accepting Comics

the-scienteers-now-accepting-comics

Hey all, be sure to read this page to see how we can promote your work! If you’re a webcomic artist looking for an expanded audience, we’ll be glad to help!

To summarize though, from the forum blurb…

One of the features of The Scienteers website is the idea that we want to expose webcomics that may not be getting enough attention when they’re well done.

So, one of the goals was to find a way to promote people’s webcomics frequently, thus we have two methods at our disposal.

One, submit your news to us! You can either use the handy-dandy on-site form or you can e-mail us directly at thescienteers@gmail.com. We’ll be posting news and blurbs as frequently as we can, so don’t hesitate to get ahold of us!

Secondly, we’re going to be running contributed promotional webcomics on our site. Essentially, you can send us 1-3 page promotional stories for us to run on the site and promote your work! Maybe a behind the scenes look, or a non-canon gag, or maybe even a preview of a much larger storyline. We’ll be pleased to run them during certain periods. It’s much better than a text link and a banner ad, right? The format of the comics, as well as futher information can be found on the comic submission page.

So, help The Scienteers help you. Send us news and comics so we can spread the word about your work!

So, be sure to take a look and try sending us a comic to run!

I’m looking forward to Smash Brothers Brawl, the soundtrack rip should keep me happy until it arrives.

So, how about some news?

First off, the friends to the Scienteers and all around great guys behind No Need for Bushido have done some youtube video tutorials concerning the creation of one of their pages. It’s extremely informitive, so be sure to check it out. Also, expect an interview with the guys later this week.

Next, we’ve slowly started gathering praise and plugs from other bloggers and sites, special thanks to David Gallaher for spreading the word about us, as well as Mangapunksai for her kind plug. We’ve interview with Dave Roman been mentioned on Journalista!

An interview with the boss.

an-interview-with-the-boss

Hi folks! Kev “Kota” Hayman here. I’m the official “biographer guy” here at the Scienteers. As such I figured it would be a good idea to, instead of bios, go with interviews of each of the Scienteers. I figured it would be a good idea to start with the boss himself, Dave Davis. And so, let’s begin. (more…)

Seeking a blogger.

seeking-a-blogger

There’s a lot of news to cover in webcomicdom it seems, that’s why we’re looking for someone to help us keep up with all that’s going on. So do you want to join the fascinating and nearly-legit art of webcomics-journalism?

Well, we’d love to have you.

We need assistance in scouring the Internet and the news-o-blogs for information to post, as well as developing more involved editorials and articles. All we’re seeking is someone with some free-time who is also an avid webcomic-reader and is well-versed in the subject and would be willing to post news often.

So, if you’re interested, go ahead and contact us via the contact-form, or e-mail us about why you think you’d be a good news-blogger. We definitely have one position open, but we’ll gladly take on more if we have several extremely qualified people.

Taking sketch-requests

taking-sketch-requests

I want to get in a lot more sketching practice. So please suggest something for me to draw and post here. There are only ten slots open right now. Just about anything goes (within reason). So comment on this post, one request per comment, one request per person. I will be able to view IPs, so no cheating, neh?

There are ten additional slots at my DeviantART page. This will give me a grand-total of twenty sketches.

That was a couple of days ago, meaning there is one slot left on my site if someone wishes to take it. I’ll be posting the sketches on my site and on my dA, so keep an eye out!

Yes, that was quite a shameless plug on my part, but I think that’s perfectly fair. ;)
