our-first-newspost

Where to begin with of first official newspost… How about we dig into the e-mail and see what’s shown up?

Our first bit of news comes from a Mister David Gallaher writer of the werewolf slash western comic HIGH MOON which is currently running on Zuda comics, which apparently updates fortnightly. David would also like me to direct you to the production blog for the comic. Here you can find more of artist Steve Ellis’s work for the comic. David stressed that he and Steve are available for interviews, so we may just take him up on that. Then again he also used the word fortnightly in his e-mail so I can already tell he’s a character and a half.

Be sure to check out some of the posts that concern the creation of the comic. It’s always nice to glean a thing or two from others!

Next in our inbox is a message from the creator of Lucky and Guy. I’m just going to quote what she said:

Lucky and Guy? They’re pretty cool. They just graduated and they’re still
looking for work, so my heart goes out to them. They talk politics a lot,
but their opinions aren’t always the most informed, but their bleeding
liberal hearts are in the right place, bless their souls. I’ve been telling
their stories in comics since I first got them published in my middle school
newspaper. If you check out my website, http://www.luckyandguy.com/, you’ll
be able to see all the comics that have been published in my high school
and college newspapers (Warning: quality varies), and beyond. Who knows?
You might like it.

So go ahead and give them a visit, afterall, you might like it.

And our final bit of news from the inbox is from Geoffrey Thorne who wants me to direct everyone to his comic GEOFFREY THORNE’S DREAMNASIUM which can be found at Webcomics Nation. He also mentions that he’ll be wrapping up his second issue within the next couple of weeks. So Geoffrey? Congrats on the milestone. I can’t wait to hear about issue number fifty.

It’s always good to hear from David, thanks man, keep up the good work!

Next we have some DD News from Skoolmunkee:

Sub-Standard Comics by OrionPax6 (how many comics are out there with self-depreciating names like that? Come on guys, comics are awesome!) has reached 175 pages! Wooo!

HalJones has a comic named Beyond Human and it has reached 75 pages today! It’s great, check it out!

The Uncanny Uper Dave by Bittenbymonk will reached 100 pages on Friday! I have to admit that ‘uper’ is a more fun word to say than ’super’…

Drunk Duck Creator Interviews Extravaganza continues! (If you dunno what that is, click here.

Today’s interview is of Seventy2 of Ninja Wedding and The Good Life, conducted by Bocaj of Laughing Out Loud Zombies, Guy in a Dinosaur Costume, and others!

Quote: How much time does it take for you to draw a comic?

“I take about 5 minutes to decide what I want on the paper, then I leave. I come back a couple hours later, and spend about 1-2 hours doing the initial drawing. Then it sits on the table for ever. Then the night before, I ink it and shade it in about 1-1/2 hours. So total it’s like 3-4 hours. Or like 5 days.”

Read the rest of the interview in its thread in the Interviews forum!

Lastly, I know the updates have been a bit slow lately, and not really encompassing as much of the webcomic scene as we should be doing. I’ll do my best to keep up more. If you’re a reader of the blog and would like to help, please send us any-news you find, big or small. Thank you.

Ten Questions: The Timony Twins

nightowlspanelThis time, we talk to the terrible Timony Twins, the force behind the hit Zuda comic, The Night Owls. Here we ask them ten questions in an attempt to inform and entertain.

From the Wikipedia article:
The Night Owls is a twice weekly webcomic by Peter and Bobby Timony appearing every Tuesday and Thursday on DC Comics Zuda imprint. It was selected as Zuda’s Instant Winner in December, 2007.

Set in 1920’s New York, the strip follows the adventures of a group of Detectives who solve supernatural crimes. The strip alternates between single gags and longer story arcs, though each episode is designed to stand on its own. Although it often deals with bizarre and disturbing themes, the strip maintains a light-hearted tone that is generally suited for all ages. Each strip is usually six to eight panels long, has an art deco banner across the top and is colored in warm sepia hues.

1] Tell us who you are!

PT: I’m Peter Timony, the Writer on Night Owls and also the Evil Twin. Bloo Ha Ha! (TM) I’m also the Righty. Bobby’s the Lefty. We’re mirror twins.

BT: I’m Bobby, and I draw the comic. I’m the good twin and lefty.
